New Center for Stamford's New Immigrants
Convened by the Partnership, Stamford's leaders in the corporate, nonprofit, educational and faith communities are developing plans to introduce a new immigrant center in Stamford based on the award winning Neighbors Link Mount Kisco model. The center will accelerate and integrate recent immigrants into the economy and the community by helping them gain self-sufficiency through language, job and other skills training. Stone Soup

On October 2, Stone Soup for the 21st Century returns for a second fabulous year. The free expo is a fun- filled interactive multi-cultural, multi-lingual resource event designed to showcase agencies and organizations serving the Stamford community. Try your hand at our Neighbors Link Stamford midway 'wheel of answers' game or have a 'business card' printed as you wait. Doors open at 9:00am at AITE, behind Rippowam Middle School on High Ridge Road.

State of the Stamford Public Schools
Join Superintendent Joshua Starr on Thursday, September 30 at 7:00pm at Westover Magnet School for an update on student progress and information about future initiatives. A time for questions and answers will follow the presentation. Childcare and interpreters will be available.

National Take Back Your Meds Day
On Saturday, September 25 a DEA coordinated "Take-Back" Day will be held at the Stamford Police Department on 805 Bedford Street. You don't even have to get out of your car - just drive through and drop off all unused Rx and Over the Counter medications. Injectables, needles and illicit substances are not part of this initiative.

Arts & Crafts on Bedford

Saturday, September 25 and Sunday, September 26, Bedford Street once again dresses up in baubles and beads, pots and candles, and art and whimsey for the DSSD's sixth annual Arts & Crafts on Bedford. The street will be closed to traffic for the weekend. The fun begins at 11:00am both days.

Jenny Rivera to Speak on Domestic Violence
On Tuesday, October 19 at 6:00p, DVCC along with UConn-Stamford Women’s Studies and Zero Tolerance will hosta presentation by Professor Jenny Rivera, City of New York School of Law on “Domestic Violence in the Latina Community" The free event will be held in Room 108.
